Beth and Alban’s June 5 2010 wedding was without a doubt, a fabulous event.  The entire day took place in beautiful Southampton and details were the perfect balance of simplicity and elegance.  The bride and groom’s photos took our breath away – we truly hope you relish in their amazing day!  Much thanks to Beth for taking the time to send us the details!

Alban proposed on a beautiful day at the beach in his hometown of Southampton.  In planning our wedding, we wanted to capture the feeling of the ocean and summer on the East End of Long Island.  Despite our busy work schedules, we were able to accomplish this with the help of talented wedding professionals who shared our vision.

SUMMER LOVE| Hydrangeas are my favorite flower; they remind me of summer!  Heidi of Sugar Magnolias combined gorgeous purple and cream hydrangeas in rustic tins to create beautiful centerpieces. Our bouquets were also comprised of stunning hydrangeas that complemented our dresses.

I had a wonderful time working with Joey, Pam and Jennifer, the staff at Fat Cat Paperie.  I wanted to create an invitation that conveyed the feeling of summer in Southampton.  We designed our pocket foldout invitation in blue and cream with a beach motif.  Insert cards included a list of local attractions so that out-of-town guests could experience some of our favorite local activities.

For the table and escort cards, I used vintage postcards of the East End I began collecting a few years ago when I moved to Long Island – my favorite ones depicted the beaches and towns of the South Fork – and attached White Finger starfish to each.

CAPTURING THE SETTING| One of the first things I looked for was a photographer.  I came across Christina Bohn’s pictures and I was drawn to her ability to capture couples in beautiful, natural settings.  As a bonus, we enjoyed her company and she was a pleasure to have around on our wedding day!

Alban grew up in Southampton and we knew it would be the perfect town to host our wedding.  Fortunately, around the time we started looking for a venue, Four Seasons Caterers was opening.  They were completing renovations of their beautiful new space with crisp white walls, clean lines, hardwood floors and large windows overlooking the garden.  This was the perfect canvas for our color palate.

MASTERING THE MOOD| Antonia and the string quartet from Anthology Strings made our ceremony unique and special, and continued to play at our cocktail hour in the garden.  They set a sophisticated, relaxed and joyous tone.  DJ Mandy got the party started with an early dance set before dinner and it continued all night long with a full dance floor through the last song.

Matt Murphy Event Lighting created a beautiful ambiance in the space with lavender, amber and rose lanterns.  While the sun was setting as the evening progressed, the hues were adjusted so that the palate harmonized with the natural light outside.

LOCAL FARE| We wanted to feature local and seasonal ingredients at our reception.  Linda Marie and Four Seasons Caterers did a wonderful job providing fresh local shellfish for the raw bar and many flavorful ingredients for the menu.  We appreciated the attention and care they devoted to creating excellent food that everyone enjoyed.  In addition to traditional cocktail selections, we also included wines from Southampton’s Duck Walk Vineyards and beer from Southampton Publick House.

After dinner, our guests were able to enjoy the beautiful summer night in the garden with fresh custom ice cream by Liquid Nitrogen Creamery including strawberry, blueberry and crème brulee graham cracker.  We also had a bonfire in the garden for our guests to create their own s’mores, a timeless summer favorite.

Shortly after we met, Alban bought me a Marie Antoinette cake from Tate’s Bake Shop for my birthday.  He had worked at Tate’s in high school and it has been one of his favorites since then.  We easily decided that this would be our wedding cake!  Decorated with purple and cream hydrangeas, our guests enjoyed it as much as we did!

Alban and I took great pleasure in planning our wedding. We loved the beautiful event and were so grateful to have shared this day with our family and friends.
